9 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Flu and pneumonia vaccines will be administered through the Ogle County Health Department during the Lincoln Manor Health Fair held at the First Presbyterian Church, 1100 Calvin Road, Rochelle. Cost is $30 for flu and $40 for pneumonia vaccines and must be paid with cash or check prior to receiving immunization. Receipts will be provided for patients to turn in to their insurance companies. 4 - 7 p.m. — The Rochelle Fire Dept. will hold a drive-thru pork chop dinner at its social building, 311 Sixth Avenue. The firefighters will also hold a Fill-the-Boot event that night for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. All proceeds will benefit the MDA.
5 – 7 p.m. — Steward United Methodist Church is pleased to announce its annual Turkey Supper. Seatings are at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Carryouts are available from 5 -7 p.m. Adult tickets are $8 and $3 for children age 5 to 10. Children age 4 and younger eat free. 11:30 a.m. — The Rochelle Chapter of NSDAR will be meeting for a luncheon at the Rochelle Country Club. The program will be given by Mrs. Lawrence Bruckner, District 2 Director of NSDAR.
6:30 – 8 p.m. — Drop in any time at Flagg-Rochelle Public Library, 619 Fourth Ave., during the Boo Bash Spooktacular Open House for some games, crafts and pre-Halloween fun. We will be set up to take your picture, so wear your costumes. No pre-registration is required and the event is for children up to fifth-grade and their parents.
Saturday, Oct. 18
8 a.m. — A benefit dog walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is planned. The walk is a leisurely walk along the scenic bike/walk path kicking off at the First Presbyterian Church. Check in is from 8 a.m. - 8:55 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. The fee is $5 per dog if you raise a minimum of $10 and $10 if you do not choose to fundraise. Great prizes will be donated by PETCO, Marie Monaco, Dachsies to Danes, Hub City Photography and Oregon Snyder Pharmacy for the top three fundraising pooches. 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. — Calvary Lighthouse Church, 14409 E. Hemstock Road, will host a Fall Extravaganza, a shopping bazaar with vendors of all types from home and garden to Pampered Chef. 4:30 to 7 p.m. — The Chana United Methodist Church will have its annual Ham Supper. The menu includes ham, scalloped potatoes, squash, green beans, salad bar and pie. 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. — The RCH Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar & Health Fair will be held with a coffee hour and bake sale in the cafeteria located in the lower level of the hospital. A Health Fair is offered in the private dining room in the lower level and the bazaar will be located in the main floor of the hospital showcasing fall, Halloween, holiday decorations and more.
6:30 - 10 a.m. — Free testing of blood pressure, blood cholesterol, blood sugar and prostate screening for men will be offered at the RCH Auxiliary Health Fair. For best results no food or drink eight hours prior to blood draw. A continental breakfast will be available in the cafeteria following the tests. 11:30 a.m. — Sycamore will host a Walk for Farm Animals to benefit Farm Sanctuary, as a part of the annual Pumpkin Festival Parade, to help raise funds for and awareness about Farm Sanctuary’s vital rescue, education and advocacy efforts for farm animals. 5 – 7 p.m. — Families with children age 10 and younger and kids with special needs are invited to attend the “World’s Safest Trick or Treat” at the Comfort Inn and Suites of Rochelle, 1133 N. Seventh Street, hosted by WRHL. All children must be accompanied by an adult and no strollers or teenagers should be brought in if at all possible. many area businesses will pass out candy, have a first floor room to decorate and be able to greet the folks as the children pass through in a very safe, fun, friendly environment.
