STERLING -- If not for two rough holes, Zack Pauser could have been batting for medalist honors at the 43rd annual Sterling Invitational golf tournament on Saturday at Emerald Hill.

BYRON -- Julian Hernandez ran a time of 16:35 for 15th place to lead the Rochelle Hubs boys cross-country team to fifth place with 110 points at the Byron Invitational at Byron Forest Preserve Wednesday.
Sterling Newman took the top honors with 28 points, followed by Sycamore (49), Burlington Central (71), DeKalb (89), Rockford Lutheran (182) and Oregon (205).

BYRON -- Austin Walsh ran a time of 12:55 for 19th place to lead the Royals to eighth place at the 11 schools Byron Invitational at Byron Forest Preserve Wednesday afternoon.

Rivals team up for ‘Volley for the Cure’

ROCHELLE -- Ottawa and Rochelle may be rivals on the volleyball court, but they will team up to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
The two NIB-12 West schools will sell t-shirts for $10 at their respective ‘Volley for the Cure' night. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to those battling breast cancer.

ROCHELLE -- Dallas List ran for three touchdowns and 159 yards in Rochelle's 37-6 win over Stillman Valley at Helms Athletic Complex Saturday to remain undefeated at 6-0.

Clothier named new recreation supervisor

ROCHELLE -- Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District executive director, Eric Christensen announced this week the hire of Calvin Clothier as the district's new recreation supervisor.
Clothier is a class of 2012 graduate from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors degree in recreational management. During his time in Iowa City, Clothier worked at nearby Coralville Park District with athletic programs.
