ROCHELLE Family, friends and members of Boy Scout Troops #553, #64, and #631 gathered at the Steward United Methodist Church on Feb. 17 for a National Court of Honor as Alexander Frye was officially awarded the rank of Eagle Scout the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.

Historically, only 2 percent of boys in Boy Scouts will ever attain the Eagle Scout rank. Frye, a sophomore at Rochelle Township High School, is the 10th member of his family that has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Frye passed his Board of Review on Dec. 26, 2012, earning him the special commemorative 100-year Eagle Scout patch.

Rick Rhoads, Committee Chairperson for Troop #553, was master of ceremonies for the Court of Honor. Senior Patrol Leader for Troop #553, Jake Rose, recited the rededication to the Scout Oath and Law while fellow scouts Chris Builta, Troop #553; Trevor Hayes, Troop #64; PJ Hayes, Troop #631; Chris Holden, Troop #64; and Eric Holden, Troop #64 lit the ceremonial candles.
