Officer rescues distressed buck

Ogle County Conservation Police Officer Steve Beltran freed a locked buck on Jan. 31. With the assistance of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department, Beltran spent more than 20 minutes working to free the buck that had gotten locked with the antlers of a dead buck. Beltran worked with a branch saw to cut the rack off the buck and free the deer. At left is the deer before being rescued. Below, is a photo of the sawed off antler.
