ROCHELLE — At the end of Tuesday’s Rochelle Rotary Club meeting, long-time local quilter, Deanie Springmire, donated one of her elaborate, multi-colored quilts to the community-wide “From the Heart” cause. She named her quilted masterpiece, “Nine holes,” in reference to its design with nine colored blocks.

In order to support the non-profit event, 144 quilt squares will be sold at $10 each for a raffle to take home the quilt at the “From the Heart” ball on Feb. 2. The squares will be available at select community businesses until sold out.

Despite the amount of time it takes to assemble a quilt, Springmire enjoys donating her pieces to charity. In fact, it’s become “her thing” around town.
