Village preparing for 54th annual Creston Booster Days

CRESTON — Plans have been finalized for the 54th annual Creston Booster Days celebration the weekend of September 17, 18 and 19.

“Our committees are set and working very hard planning this year’s celebration. We want to continue the reputation of the Creston Booster Days as one of the best family entertainment celebrations in the area,” said committee co-chair Dorothy Lockard.

Some of the features of the Creston Booster Days celebration include:

Friday Sept. 17: Steak fry from 5:30-7:30 p.m., music on the stage by the Infringements and carnival rides.

Saturday Sept. 18: Morning pancake breakfast (6-10 a.m.) at the firehouse, lawn mower poker run, kids’ parade, auction, Comedy Magic of Ray Scheff (4:30-5:30 p.m.) and the Missing Links Band (6-9:15 p.m.). A huge fireworks display is scheduled for closing Saturday night.

Sunday Sept. 19: Community Church Service in the park at 9:30 a.m., followed by Cederholm Award presentation, Headon’s pork chop barbecue, big parade, music on stage by J P and the Cats and karaoke on the main stage in the evening. Vintage baseball will again be played on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. with the Somonauk Blue Stockings coming into town to play the Creston Regulators.

Saturday and Sunday will include Bingo, carnival rides and arts and crafts booths.

The Friday night steak fry menu includes Headon’s 12-ounce rib eye steak, baked potato or potato salad, tossed green salad, dinner roll and butter, dessert and coffee or lemonade. Cost of steak fry ticket is $18. A limited sandwich menu will be available for purchase in the Booster kitchen. Bottled water or pop may be purchased at an additional cost. Advance steak fry ticket purchase not required. Steaks will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Friday night all carnival ride tickets will cost $1.50 and all rides will take one ticket. On Saturday and Sunday all ride tickets sold on grounds will cost $1 each. Each ride will take two to three tickets.

Carnival ride wristbands: $12 for Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and $15 for Sunday, 1 p.m. To 7 p.m.
