The Rochelle 11-12 All-Star team took second place at the district tournament last week. Team members are Jasmine Carpenter, Jill Meadows, Elizabeth Miller, Jessica Boston, Megan Williams, Lauren Murphy, Kaya Rhoads, Alexis Pillion, Mattie Hoiness, Sabrina Risley and Marin Meiners. Justin Boston was the manager and Mike Williams and Rex Johnson were coaches.

ROCHELLE — Rochelle’s 11- and 12-year-old All-Star softball team took second place at the District 19 tournament last week with wins against Freeport and Morrison.

Rock Falls finished in first place with four wins in four games.

Kaya Rhoads was the winning pitcher in Rochelle’s two victories. She held Freeport to one hit in four innings in Rochelle’s 2-1 win last Saturday and gave up just two hits in six innings as Rochelle topped Morrison 12-3 on Monday.

Jessica Boston had the game-winning hit against Freeport in the top of the fifth inning to drive in Lauren Murphy, who singled to start the inning.

Boston had two hits against Morrison and Mattie Hoiness, Megan Williams and Rhoads all chipped in with one each. Elizabeth Miller drew four walks.

Rock Falls snuck past Rochelle 4-3 on Tuesday to clinch the championship. Boston hit two doubles and scored two runs and both Williams and Rhoads added hits.
