DIXON — Rochelle Rays coach Marianne Swanson doesn’t put too much stock into meet scores.
Still, when her team beats an opponent that trains year-round by over 300 points, it’s got to be a bit encouraging.
Following the Rays’ 481-135 dual meet win against Dixon last week, Swanson talked about her satisfaction in watching her swimmers compete.
““For me, it’s all about improvement,” she said. “I’m really pleased with the execution of strokes with our swimmers. That’s most important to me – learning to do the strokes.”
Rochelle had numerous first-place finishers, including two who won four events apiece. Logan Johnson won the 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter breast stroke, 100-meter individual medley and the 50-meter fly while Kate Pillen won the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter individual medley, 100-meter back stroke and the 100-meter fly.

Anna Haub won three races and Christian McKinley, Kylee Williams and Jacie Wyatt won two each.
Swanson said her team benefited from having a significantly larger roster than Dixon.
“That always helps,” she said.
Other first-place finishers for Rochelle were Anna Craven, Katelyn Glaser, Holly Hageman, Logan Haggestad, James Hart, Brooke Hatfield, Anna Haub, Evan Horner, Levi Johnson, Lexy LeMar and Joe Werstine.
Mariah Avila, Christopher Connor, Sarah Craven, Brayden Dale, Chantel Davis, Christi Englert, Cody Hasz, Tori Johnson, Brendan Kalata, Kelsey Mellor, Lacey Munch, Gage Munnich, Gabe Pedraza, Sarah Pillen, Patrick Rhoads, Abby Zaccaria and Becky Zilis all took second place in at least one event.
