More money needed to finish tow fund audit

OREGON -- The Ogle County Board approved a resolution Tuesday night to spend an additional $7,500 to continue the forensic examination of the Ogle County Sheriff's administrative tow fund.
The board agreed in May to pay Sikich, the county auditors, $7,500 plus out of pocket expenses for an initial investigation of the tow fund expenditures and revenues.

ROCHELLE -- Rochelle Township High School students involved with extra-curricular activities at the school will be subject to random drug testing as board members approved the mandatory testing program at its Monday night meeting.

ROCHELLE -- In the ongoing effort to provide local sports organizations ample playing space and facilities, Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District leaders invited AYSO Soccer representatives to speak at Monday night's August board meeting.

New events help draw crowd at annual festival

ROCHELLE -- The 17th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival wrapped up on Sunday with an estimated turnout of around 2,000 people attending. ROCHELLE -- Rochelle police arrested a Rochelle man early Saturday morning following a confrontation with local police.
Kyle Hammonds, 23, was arrested on the charge of aggravated battery to a police officer and obstructing justice. He was also wanted on an Ogle County warrant.

Rochelle woman found dead on I-39 near Bypass 20

Officials from the Winnebago County Coroner's office say a 29-year-old woman from Rochelle was found just before 9 a.m. on I-39 in the south bound lanes near mile marker 115. Officials believe she was hit by a car and sustained massive injuries. She died at the scene.
An autopsy is pending. Illinois State Police are investigating.
